The next stop on our Executive Director’s Midwest Road trip is Iowa City! Whether you’re brand new to fat liberation or a seasoned advocate who wants to connect with local community, come connect with us! Join NAAFA on Tuesday evening, July 21 at 7pm at the sacred collective space in Iowa City for a fat-friendly meet-up. Tigress will be joined by special guest Talya Miller, founder of This Body of Work, a fat trans disabled visibility photography exhibit. Tigress will give a brief overview of NAAFA, fat rights and #fatliberation, and the Campaign for Size Freedom’s work to outlaw size discrimination, and then we’ll chat with Talya about their art and activism. Tigress will also have copies of her book, @weightandwisdombook, with her proceeds going to @naafofficial.

T. / Talya Miller (they/she) is a Midwest-based community worker and artist interested in the plurality of existence. As a fat, queer, disabled, and transgender individual, Miller doesn’t shy away from the complexities of identity. With 10+ years of experience, their projects have been featured regionally and nationally. While varying in medium and method, there is a unifying narrative of creative connection throughout their work in both physical pieces and community spaces.

Tigress Osborn (she/her) is the is the Executive Director of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance (NAAFA) and co-founder of the Campaign for Size Freedom. She is the co-editor of Weight and Wisdom: Reflections on Decades of Working for Body Liberation (Pearlsong Press 2025). Tigress founded Full Figure Entertainment, a plus-size event production group, in Oakland, CA in 2008. Seen most recently debating Jillian Michaels on the YouTube series Surrounded, Tigress is a 2024 Time Health100 honoree for her advocacy to end systemic size discrimination..
