Co-Host Bios:
Bree (they/them) is an unapologetically fat, neurodivergent, and disabled queerdo who’s been organizing community spaces and shouting about all things fat since 2009. Their activism takes many forms, from zines and online advocacy, to their master’s thesis about fat body image and empowerment. Bree is now a peer counselor who specializes in supporting fat folks and is dedicated to creating fat-only spaces, like their Fat AF! Peer Support Space and NAAFA’s Fat Fridays. Bree lives in Los Angeles where they love thrifting, watching Drag Race, and doing witchy stuff. Learn more Bree at breeishelpfulaf.com.
Ratnadevi Manokaran (they/them) is a Malaysian fat liberation activist deeply committed to combating weight stigma and dismantling systemic oppression tied to fatness. Their advocacy highlights the unique experiences of queer fat bodies, challenging societal norms that perpetuate body policing and erasure. Rooted in queer liberation, intersectionality and feminism, they emphasize the interconnected struggles of fat people, particularly those who navigate multiple marginalized identities. They use their platform to foster a community that celebrates diversity in bodies, identities, and experiences, as they continue to push boundaries and advocate for a world where fat, queer individuals are seen, valued, and affirmed.
Tamra Lamese Garland (she/her) is a life coach, writer, speaker, emcee, entrepreneur, and fat activist. She owns and operates Dozeland Creative and Tamra Lamese Self-love and Confidence Coach. Her coaching is dedicated to helping people transform the way they see themselves and how they interact with the world. She guides clients from negative body image, anxiety, stress, and self-loathing, to clarity, inner peace, lots of self-love and confidence. Tamra has volunteered for over 15 years for various non-profits in service of children and people experiencing hardship and inequity. She has served on the NAAFA Board of Directors since 2022.
