Drag Story Hour was created to use the art of drag to read books to kids in libraries, schools, and bookstores, capturing the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and giving kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. This summer, join NAAFA’s Virtual Brunch Team for our 4th Annual Summer Brunch featuring Drag Story Hour performers Fat Chance (they/them) and Hazel (they/he). Hosted by Matt Simko (he/him), with brunch planning tips from Danielle G (she/her). This event will include breakout room time for virtual mingling.

NAAFA virtual events are for fat people and fat-positive friends of all sizes. Our virtual events are offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of our community of NAAFA donors. To support this and other NAAFA programming, give to NAAFA today

This event is presented via Zoom, in English, and with English auto-captions by Otter.ai. ASL Interpreting is provided by Pro Bono ASL.

Fat Chance (they/them) is originally from Arlington, TX. They have spent most of their life in Buffalo, New York, where their artistic journey began. Drawn to drawing from a young age, they earned a B.A. in Visual Studies with a minor in Sculpture from Buffalo State University in 2019. Their work centered on the human figure through both drawing and sculpture. After a creative hiatus, they embraced performance art, viewing the body as subject and site. This led to an MFA at the University at Buffalo, completed in 2023. Their current work bridges physical form and conceptual depth, rooted in embodiment, positivity, and inclusivity.
