Fat Liberation Month is back for another year, and as they have since the beginning, our good friend Bree XVI is back to help us kick off this year’s celebrations with a little bit of magick! Join us on Saturday, August 1st at 2pm Pacific for a fun virtual event to set intentions for #FatLiberationMonth and beyond! Inspired by the 6th annual Fat Liberation Month, Bree will share the numerology of the 6 and its relationship to accessible magick. They’ll share examples of how to easily incorporate magical intention in our everyday lives for fat liberation and beyond. Bree will then lead the group through a collaborative ritual, and cap it off with one-card tarot readings.

NAAFA events are for fat people and fat-positive friends of all sizes. Our virtual events are offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of our community of NAAFA donors. To support this and other NAAFA programming, visit naafa.org/give.

This event is presented via Zoom, in English, and with English auto-captions by Otter.ai. ASL Interpreting by Pro Bono ASL.

The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance is a 501(c)3 charitable organization with a mission to change perceptions of fat and to end size discrimination through advocacy, education, and support.

GUEST BIO

Accessibility Description (provided by guest): A headshot of Bree, a fat white person who is enthusiastically smiling with their fists posed at either side of their face. They have short hair that’s half black, half orange and a piercing above their lip. They’re wearing a black short sleeve button up that has a small floral pattern and a red bow tie. Bree XVI (they/them) is an unapologetically fat, neurodivergent, and disabled queerdo who’s been organizing community spaces and shouting about all things fat since 2009. Their activism takes many forms, from zines and online advocacy, to their master’s thesis about fat body image and empowerment. Bree is now a peer counselor who specializes in supporting fat folks and is dedicated to creating fat-only spaces, like their Fat AF! Peer Support Space and NAAFA’s Fat Fridays. They live in Los Angeles where they love thrifting, watching Drag Race, and doing witchy stuff. Find Bree online at breeishelpfulaf.com and @breeishelpfulaf.
