Fat people deserve more than the world wants to give us.
Size discrimination hurts everybody of every size, but fat people often suffer the most because we live in a culture where anti-fatness runs rampant. Anti-fatness is a pervasive form of systemic discrimination that steals employment and education opportunities, upholds medical weight bias that endangers lives, and disenfranchises bigger folks from bringing our skills and talents to the fight to build a better world for EVERYONE.
NAAFA works to change all that.
And we need your help.
We’ve been fighting this fight since 1967, with limited budgets, small staff, and dedicated volunteers. The more resources we have to support fat people and end size discrimination, the further our work can go. We are primarily donor-funded and volunteer-run. The NAAFA POD, our group of Passionate Ongoing Donors, gives us stability by committing to monthly donations. Regular, predictable income allows for deeper, more intentional planning and budgeting.
This year, we hope to double the size of the NAAFA POD. One very passionate donor will give us a $100 bonus per person for everyone we enroll by June 1. For every current POD member who increases their monthly gift, she’ll also give us $100.

What is Funded by my Contribution?
At NAAFA, we envision a culture where all fat people are free, celebrated, and liberated from every form of oppression.
Our general fund allows our Executive Director and Board of Directors to make decisions about how to best use funding, including programs such as the NAAFA Webinar Series, the monthly NAAFA Newsletter, the NAAFA Community Voices blog, creation/update of our NAAFA brochures and fact sheets, as well as enabling us to fund new programs.

The Campaign for Size Freedom works to support legislation and other public policy to end size discrimination
The Dr. Paul Ernsberger Research Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to graduate students in the U.S. who are focused on areas of concentration in scientific laboratory research that carry forward Dr. Ernsberger’s legacy.
