New York City signed INT-0209 into law, protecting millions of New Yorkers from height and weight discrimination. Let’s celebrate this win the best way we know how: in fat community!

Location Information:
It can be challenging to find “our” lawn in Riverside Park so we invite you to look for us next to a more obvious landmark very nearby– the Carousel at Riverbank State Park (679 Riverside Drive). If you get yourself to that Carousel, we’ll get you to other fat community folks!
Subway: Riverbank/Riverside is a short walk from 145th & Broadway.
Bus: BX19 drops off near the cultural center and pool at Riverbank. You’ll see the Carousel just past Sofrito restaurant.
Driving: Enter Riverbank Park on 145th Street and stop at the ranger booth for a free parking pass. The rangers will then direct you to parking. (You can drop off others close to the Carousel before you go park).
Rideshare: It’s easiest to direct your driver to Sofrito when you order your Lyft/Uber. That wll get you dropped off right near the Carousel.
We’ll have small treats and some water available. You can bring snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, games, sunblock, etc. The vibe is “hanging out with good people we like on a beautiful day.” There may be some media present and there will be an official event photographer, too.
There are wide wooden benches and low cement walls, and there are also some wooden picnic table with attached benches in the area. Accessible bathrooms are a short walk/roll from the Carousel. Paths are paved, wide, and mobility device friendly.

Join members of the NAAFA Board of Directors and our Size Freedom Rally partners at Monday, February 27, 2023. We will be working together to prepare for the Hearing Rally on Tuesday! You will help make signs, so bring your brightly colored markers.
Location: RWDSU - 370 7th Ave, NY NY 10001 (Also known as 7 Penn Plaza)
We will be meeting on the 14th Floor - Take a right off the elevator and ring the door bell. Once through the first set of doors, the room is to the right down the hall.
COVID protocol: We are requiring the use of masks.
RALLY FOR SIZE FREEDOM

On February 28th at 10am EST, the New York City Council Committee on Human Rights will hear testimony on INT-0209, An Act Banning Weight and Height Discrimination in New York City. Introduced by Council Member Sean Abreau and co-sponsored by 29 additional members of the Council, this bill will ban size discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodation.
Join us on the steps of NYC City Hall at 9am EST for a rally co-sponsored by NAAFA, FLARE (Fat Legal Advocacy Rights and Education Project), and RWDSU (Retail Workers and Department Store Union) in support of this historic bill.
