Event Description

In this episode of the NAAFA Webinar Series, host Tigress Osborn (she/her) is joined by wellness coach and body image expert Ivy Felicia (she/her), also the founder of Fat Women of Color. Topics will include intersections of fat, gender, and race; cultural sensitivity in body image coaching; and why Ivy created Fat Women of Color. There will be time for audience Q&A as the end of the session.  Please note: This educational event is not an affinity space. You do not need to identify as Fat or as a Woman of Color to attend.

Speaker Bio

Ivy Felicia, also known as The Body Relationship® Coach, is an accomplished Certified Holistic Wellness Coach and Body Image Expert with over a decade of experience. She specializes in helping women embrace body peace and sustainable well-being. As the founder of Fat Women of Color, Ivy has been at the forefront of the movement for fat liberation and body positivity. She advocates for the rights and dignity of individuals of all sizes, rooted in the principles of fat activism.

Ivy's unique approach incorporates holistic practices, including her professional training in herbalism and energy work, such as Reiki. This allows her to offer a comprehensive, integrative approach that addresses the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of well-being. Her approach focuses on empowerment and helps clients navigate the complexities of diet culture and chronic illness with resilience and self-compassion.

Ivy's personal journey of overcoming body shame, surviving abuse, and navigating chronic illness has given her a deep understanding of her client's struggles. This journey has shown her resilience and ability to connect with her clients profoundly. She has created a sanctuary of acceptance and empowerment, particularly for women of color, providing a safe space to heal and grow. Her commitment to community care is a cornerstone of her work, evident in her efforts to foster supportive environments where individuals can connect, share experiences, and uplift one another, making everyone feel supported and part of a larger movement.

Through her coaching, Ivy's mission is to inspire and empower clients to reconnect with their bodies and reclaim their power, guiding them toward long-term transformation and holistic well-being.
